Quotable

With our church on Sunday, while singing "Holy Is the Lord" by Christ Tomlin, Dylan had to change the lyrics from "Everyone siiiiiinnnnnnnnnng..." to "Everyone be awesome and super!"
"Awesome" is his favorite adjective and watching the Incredibles has introduced "super" into his vocabulary.  He is our little Captain Awesome (yes, that is a tribute to "Chuck," all you fans).

Last night,
Dylan:  Mommy, can we get a Nemo fish?  And a Marlin fish? ...For eating?
Mommy:  You want to eat them?
Dylan: Yah.
Mommy:  No we can't.  We don't eat those kind of fish.
Dylan: (Disgusted and Confused) What kind we eat?

Vinegar and Baking Soda Volcano!

Well, we finally did it.  We made a volcano.  I don't have any pictures, and I'm not "allowed" to post the videos the kids made involving said volcano, but I think this one video will work as evidence of our accomplishment without incriminating anyone. ;)

Zoey Walking, Almost Finally

Today for the first time, she actually walked without me prompting her.  This is a video of the game we were playing tonight.  Of course, when I started recording her, she stopped walking all the way across the room, but this is a glimpse of her progress.

Auntie Jennifer Visits

At the beginning of June, Auntie Jennifer came and spent a week with us.  We joined up with the rest of the family for some fun at the beach, and I went to NH with the ladies for some hiking and shopping.  Unfortunately, I don't have all the photos Jennifer took with her camera.  I hope she sends some to us!

Tide Pools + Kids = Fun!

Mussels, starfish, snails and hermit crabs, oh my!!!

Why yes, his lips are blue.

I was there too.

Hiking!

Unfortunately Jennifer has the group photo on her camera.  Hopefully we'll see her pictures soon.

Quotables

The past couple days have been pretty great for Dylan's turn in the quote book.  Here are the samplings:

June 8, 2011
Mommy: Are you ready to go to the store with Mommy?
Dylan: Yes! What store we going to?
Mommy: The grocery store.
Dylan: The grocery store! Yes! Then we can buy watermelon!
Mommy: We're not going to buy watermelon there.
Dylan: (disgusted) You wanna make Jesus SAD, Mommy?!
Incidentally, I did end up buying two watermelons since they were on sale.  I think Jesus would have been okay with either outcome.

Daddy: So Owen, you don't want to play football?
Owen: Nah, I changed my mind.
Dylan: I DO Daddy! Cuz I'm a big boy!

June 9, 2011
Owen and Dylan were rough-housing in the living room and Owen pushed Dylan in the stomach a little too hard, to which Dylan responded:
That wasn't awesome Owen!

Dylan does speak in italics.

Frogs for Science

Who knew how many back yard buddies we'd find in our creek?  Just don't let them touch me...

It amazes me how resourceful kids are, and how much they can figure out when they're interested in something.  No frogs were permanently harmed in the taking of these photos.

Kori in a Whirl

On Friday night my long-time friend Kori drove up from New York with her family.  They dropped her off and we had a beautiful day together on Saturday at Fort Williams.

Kori grabbing Dylan before he can fall off the rocks.

Good ol' Kori!

We had to treat her to some real Maine lobster whether she liked it or not.
Kori did enjoy the lobster, but the best part was watching Jonathan be grossed out by our methods of meat extraction.  Since we very rarely eat lobster, we can't bring ourselves to buy lobster cracker thingies, so we do have to use the meat tenderizer.  That means a little bit of lobster juice and maybe some lobster flesh gets spattered across the dining room table...
Yeah, I know.  I can't believe I ate that either.

Rod's Go for a Ride in the Pfaff Lane

Our dear friends Brandon and Alex and their two adorable boys came to visit us, right in the middle of the chicken pox.  We'd been planning and looking forward to it so much...but is chicken pox ever "convenient"?  We managed to have a little bit of fun throughout the ordeal, but I didn't take many pictures because my little models were so mottled with the pox.  Here is a quick and blurry view of the week the Rod's took a ride in our lane.

Alex trying to wrap her mind around the challenge that Chicken Pox is.  JK, she's just waiting to sing happy bday to J.

Brandon and Jack in the spirit of Birthday!

"Hope it's chocolate for me!"

Well, it is chocolate.  But nothing fancy.  I'm too exhausted from taking care of sick kids for two weeks.
So, I had this idea, which turned out to be a terrible idea, that we go out for lunch together, for Jonathan's birthday, since we were downtown already, picking up birth certificates for our babies born in the last two years.  We should have done a better job calculating when each of the kids would need to have a rest, since it turned out that they all needed a rest at lunchtime.

Brandon and Jonathan deciding that taking tired kids to a restaurant is worse than waterboarding.

Yes, Happy Birthday Jonathan.

Thank goodness it didn't rain the entire time they were here!  At least we got to go to the beach.

Jack trying to get Zoey to smile?

I love this next set.  Pay particular attention to Zoey's face.
